ELECTRONIC FILE GUIDELINES

VECTOR IMAGES

Vector images consist of layers and paths that can be enlarged without risk of blurring.  For this reason, vectored images are the preferred choice for all sign-making applications.  Common vector files carry the file extension of: .eps, and .ai.   Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw are two of the most likely applications that yield vector images.

RASTER IMAGES

A raster or bitmap image is the most common form of computer image.  Common raster file extensions are .jpg, .bmp, .tif and .gif.  Adobe Photoshop and Corel Photopaint produce raster images.  When these types of files are enlarged or magnified for sign making purposes they have blurred or jagged edges (pixilation).

PREFERRED FILE TYPES

We use PC/Windows based software so all files should be submitted in this format.  If you are using a Mac program, please convert your file to a PC compatible format when saving.
